The Compassion Experience coming to five Canadian cities including London From June 21- 24 at Gateway Church

More than 700 million people around the world live on less than $3.00 a day, facing challenges and living in conditions most Canadians never will. The Compassion Experience, presented by Compassion International, is making five stops in Canadian cities this spring, bringing visitors on a journey of experiencing other cultures. They will tangibly experience the realities of global poverty and learn how they can change the life of a child living a world away.

The Compassion Experience

With an iPod, a headset and 1,700 square feet of interactive space, visitors will get to see for themselves the actual homes of Compassion children without even getting on a plane.

Visitors can step into a school in Uganda, visit a home in the Philippines, explore a market in Bolivia, or experience a day of a child in Kenya while hearing life-changing stories of hope from the perspective of a child whose life began in poverty.

This free, immersive event is appropriate for all ages and is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has never had the chance to travel outside North America to get a small glimpse of what life can be like in countries that deal with issues deep poverty.

When people think of poverty, they typically think about the symptoms – things like poor financial resources, homelessness, lack of food and no access to education. But perhaps bigger than all of these things, is the lack of hope. Through Compassion Canada’s holistic child development program, children are able to grasp hope again in tangible ways. Visitors will have the chance to see that hope come to life at The Compassion Experience.

In the 25 areas where Compassion Canada serves, nearly one in five children die before the age of five, mostly from preventable causes. One hundred and twenty-four million children worldwide do not attend school, according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). Visitors will have the opportunity to change the story of children living in poverty by learning more about the issues they are facing, and by seeing firsthand the difference that Compassion’s child sponsorship program is making not only in their lives, but the lives of their families and communities.

Compassion Canada is committed to not only releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name, but equipping the hearts and hands of Jesus followers everywhere to love their neighbours in tangible ways. The Compassion Experience is designed to accomplish just that.
