Open to Grade 6 through 12 With $1200 in Prizes to be Won

Welcome to the Walking with HIM Student Creative Writing Contest and your chance to share in the $1200 in prizes , Prizes include the new Apple Watch, iPad Mini, and many more great prizes.

There are several suggestions for titles listed below for you to consider but you are welcome to come up with something of your own. We are looking for a composition about your Christianity.

Titles for consideration:
  • No Jesus - No Peace / Know Jesus, Know Peace
  • Don't keep the faith - spread the faith
  • Jesus loves me, this I know
  • This is how I am making a difference in the world
  • When all else fails - Read the instruction manual (Bible)
  • Why fit in when you were born to stand out
  • Jesus has a sense of humour
  • God puts the Awe in Awesome

Writer Contest Rules
  1. No entry fee is required, and all rights in the story remain the property of the author.

  2. By submitting an entry to the Contest, the entrant agrees to abide by all Contest rules.

  3. All entries must be original works, in English. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters or another person’s universe, without written permission, will result in disqualification. Entries may not have been previously published in professional media.

  4. To be eligible, entries must be works of prose of up to 1,000 words in length and no less than 500 words.

  5. Entries submitted in hard copy must be typewritten or a computer printout in black ink on white paper, printed only on the front of the paper, double-spaced, with numbered pages. Each entry must have a cover page with the title of the work, the author’s legal name, a pen name if applicable, address, telephone number, e-mail address and an approximate word count. Every subsequent page must carry the title and a page number, but the author’s name must be deleted to facilitate fair, anonymous judging.

  6. Entries submitted electronically must be double-spaced and must include the title and page number on each page, but not the author’s name. Electronic submissions will separately include the author’s legal name, pen name if applicable, address, telephone number, e-mail address and approximate word count.

  7. We accept only entries that do not require a delivery signature for us to receive them.

  8. The contest is open to registered students in a public or private school within Middlesex and Elgin Counties including but not limited to the municipalities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Lucan, Glencoe and Port Stanley.

  9. The contest is divided into two groups,
    • Group 1 is exclusively for registered students of grade 6, 7 and 8.
    • Group 2 is exclusively for registered students of grade 9, 10, 11 and 12.


  10. The Contest will close on Friday March 11, 2016. To be eligible for judging an entry must be postmarked or received electronically no later than midnight on Friday March 11, 2016.

  11. Each entrant may submit only one manuscript and no revisions are accepted.

  12. Entries will be judged by a group of 4 Christian authors and pastors. The decisions of the judges are entirely their own, and are final.

  13. There shall be 3 prizes in each category:
    • Group 1: 1st Prize - iPad Mini , 2nd Prize - $100 Gift Card from Best Buy, 3rd Prize - $50 Gift Card from Creation Bookstore
    • Group 2: 1st Prize – Apple Watch , 2nd Prize - $100 Gift Card from Best Buy, 3rd Prize - $50 Gift Card from Creation Bookstore


  14. All six winning pieces will be featured in future editions of Christian Life In London.

  15. Winners will be individually notified of the results by phone, mail or e-mail on or before Monday April 4, 2016.
